Knifehandchop is the best thing to happen to my ears all day. Turn it up a bit, quality on this rip is way worse than on record.

Who would have thought that a working day spent going through reports of abused and disabled children would be more draining that any amount of warehouse or teaching assistant work ever was? 6 days into the job and I'm not just tired, I'm thoroughly exhausted in a way that goes beyond 6 hours sleep a night.

Bye-Bye Valefor

  • Dec. 17th, 2009 at 10:31 PM
So, I've decided to leave Valefor at the end of the year. FusionRR just isn't going how I hoped it would, attendance has been low for too long and I'm feeling like it isn't home anymore. With Nix quitting and a general sense of growing away from everyone, plus a lack of numbers for doing the events I like most, I decided it's best to move on. So, I'm applying back to my old LS on Phoenix, where I still have friends. MM has posted a background check on me to ensure I didn't pull anything shady, which is nice to see - I always thought Fusion could be a bit too lax with things like this, that Neph would do so tells me that things are a bit more serious, which is good. Go there and post how I out-claimed you on a Ladybug that one time or something, so my moral standing is roughly equal to that of someone who tortures kittens, haha. I'll still be around until January though, to say my goodbyes or for you to kick me in the teeth as you deem fit. I met a lot of good people on this server, and part of me is sad to be going, but my motivation to play is almost zero right now, whilst the thought of playing with my friends on Phoenix again excites me. The decision is obvious.

Oh and I started a new job this week. I work in a home for disabled children, doing admin work. It is *tough*. Spending the morning going through reports on children who have been sexually abused is... taxing. I'm on a temp contract until mid-January at least, though probably until the end of March (depends on funding, if the money's there then my job is, I'm told). I hope it goes well! Very draining though.

Winding Down 2009

  • Dec. 17th, 2009 at 11:56 AM
Not a whole lot to update here since the last entry about Odin.  We've done our normal rotation of events, but holiday parties and school exams have been keeping our numbers quite low and we have had to adjust a bit.

This past Sunday, we were supposed to do a Dynamis-Qufim but only had about 22 people show up, including no tanks nor people with experience hunting down the target that unlocked subjobs.  I figured we could get in and make a good go of it, but instead we just opted to do a Dynamis-Tavnazia instead.  It was a pretty good run as far as Tavs go ... we got a BLM Hat, WHM Body, PLD Legs, and a few other AF2.  We also got our 4th AF2-1 Body ever and it was RDM.  That was pretty cool.  The most amazing thing was that we got 4 Hydra pieces from the Taurs... none of them were the Haubert, but it was cool to see so many drop anyway.

We knocked out a Proto-Ultima as well, getting even more Turbans and Crackows (sigh)

Total Ultima Drop Summary (12):
Nashira Crackows - 7 (+1 Charliekun)
Nashira Gages - 4
Nashira Manteel - 0
Nashira Seraweels - 5
Nashira Turban - 8 (+1 Deuteu)

We worked our way back to Wing 3 in Einherjar, but of course as is our habit lately, we can't seem to knock out a Wing 3 on the first try.  We got the Chair Dude boss last night, but ultimately wiped because important people (Kiters & BLMs) eventually died without RR and the Demons overwhelmed us.  Things were looking really good to start, but in fairness we were light on BLMs and had an inexperienced kiting team so things ended up as they often do on that boss.  It's annoying that we've beaten it before, yet simple mistakes lead us to defeat.  We've got one more chance at Wing 3 before the Holiday break, provided enough people show up, so we'll see how that goes.

In non-LS related news, I've started to work on leveling WAR by gearing it up and doing some FoV in my spare time.  I've got all my gear mapped out to around level 50 so I just need to go out and get some levels.  42 and climbing at the moment.

Salvage has sucked a dick in December.  Serves us right as karma for having such a good November.  Hopefully things change up a bit as we hope to do more Salvage than normal while the LS is on vacation.  I don't know how that will end up working out because people are generally apathetic towards salvage outside our normal twice a week runs, but I hope we can at least kill some bosses to complete some pieces as well as get some damn NMs to pop in Bhaflau.

Merits are slowly coming, but I'm not sure if I want to stick with my original plan.  First order of business is finishing Group 1 merits on THF, which was originally intended to be 5x Trick Attack Recast (5x Triple Attack has been complete for years). But now I'm thinking I don't want to spend so many points on those 4th and 5th upgrades, so I might just do 2x TA and 2x SA instead.  Then either toss an upgrade toward Flee Recast or a 3rd TA upgrade cause I'm cheap.  >.>  COR merits are completely done, so after I do Group 1 THF, I'll need to figure out what's next between RNG, DRK, and NIN.

Anyway, I'm excited about the holidays as well as not having any events to do for a few weeks.  I just hope holiday attrition isn't that large and I won't have to look for new members in January.  We usually do though, which is disappointing and annoying.

Just some stuff.

Not too many things have happened that were super eventful since the last time I posted.

Sunday we switched up our dynamis to Tav. Which I don't mind doing, I just know im going to die alot. I think I died like 8 or 9 times. Pretty sure wodie beat me though. Otherwise it was a good run. I think it was 5 AF, 1 -1(rdm body I believe) and 4 Hydra gear.

After that we did nyzul. I think we are going to be climbing slowing for Tsu. Sadly SE thought it was funny to make our our 1-5 run the hardest run I have ever done. nothing like Lamps, don't aggro gears, and 6 mobs in one small room. 3 of which were gears. The rest of the runs were basically perfect, other than level 80 and 100 bosses didn't drop anything.

Elphie then asked if I wanted to merit shortly after nyzul. I was kinda hesitant. I have never really merited before. Most of my merits came from event farming, campaign or FoV. I really didn't want to mess up things like the chains and such. However im glad I went. I really don't know how long we actually merited for but I know I got 4 and 1/2 merits. I believe Evan said he made like 52k but I know he used his exp band twice. We stopped at chain 150 since everyone was tired at that point.

Other than that. Salvage sucked yesterday. That had to be our worst run since i've joined.

Kym/Canens Story Part 9

  • Dec. 13th, 2009 at 2:47 PM
She glided lazily around the Lower Abyss, her white wings gently slicing through the aether filled air. The force of the aether around her made flying easy, but even here it wasn't totally effortless. Knowing that her wings wouldn't hold out much longer, she began to look for a decent sized island to land on. Seeing one just within range below her, she quickly dove to the ground and landed with a soft thud just as her wings gave out, vanishing in an exhausted puff of aether. Sighing softly, she dusted off her skirt while looking around. Shattered rocks and tattered spirits floated around her, soft voices drifting along the aether to her ears.

She looked around hoping to catch sight of Ausa, Tox and Canens before they pass over her. But catching no sight of them, she carefully explored her surroundings. Noting the voices had gotten slightly louder and sounded slightly familiar she whispered quietly as the comfort of her stone skin spell covered her body in transparent scales of earth. She held her spell book at ready, as she quietly rounded the corner of the sheer cliff face.

They stood, their backs towards her, heads bent together as they gestured and spoke in Asmodian. Something about the male Asmodian's voice caused her heart to pound wildly in her chest as memories floated to the surface of her minds eye.

“You need to stop pushing yourself so hard Kymira. Your legion follows you to the end and back and they all think you need to take a break...” Sankou spoke teasingly while he tucked a pink curl behind her ear as she looked up at him.

“You only say that because you're avoiding the slew of paper work on your desk dear...” She had teased back.

She stared in shock as she quietly whispered his name.

“Sankou...?” Her book landing lightly at her feet sending a puff of gray earth to dance around her legs.

They both turned, wearing the mask of surprise on both their faces. Faces she hadn't seen since her ascension months? Years? Ago.

“Cor meum...” he whispered brokenly calling her by his personal endearment to her, as he took a step towards her. His black eyes filled with sudden anguish as the guilt rose up and choked his throat.

He reached a clawed hand to her face, lightly tracing her cheek as her brown eyes filled up with confusion, hurt and the staring shimmer of rage that was carefully buried. He continued to reach for her and pulled her into his arms as her body continued to stiffen as she sensed the arrival of Ausa and Tox who had sheathed themselves into invisibility.

“Sankou. Let. Her. Go.” Lysithea said coldly as her eyes shimmered red with anger and pain as she heard his endearment to Kymira.

Kymira stiffened up more as she placed her arms against Sankou's chest and pushed herself out of his embrace. Her eyes blazed in anger as she quickly picked up her spell book.

“Well well well...” Lysithea said softly as a sneer graced her face.

“You look uglier then I remember.” Kymira sneered back her eyes focused on Lysithea.

Lysithea let out a soft hiss as she advanced towards Kymira, her mace held menacingly in her clawed fist.

“So how does it feel to be second best Kymira? Considering Sankou did leave you for me.” She retorted back hoping to cause Kymira to lose her focus.

Sankou shifted slightly and looked uncomfortable as Kymira's eyes raked him with disdain.

Small licks of flame danced along Kymira's sleeve as the spells danced lightly on her tongue. Causing her to smile in malicious glee as she noticed the flash of panic in Lysithea's eyes.

“So Sankou...was it worth it? Leaving me for her?” She murmured softly as her eyes danced between Sankou's still form and Lysithea's advance.

“Did she tell you about Anax? And about Cloud? And oh don't forget to mention how she also dropped her armor for none other then Gazer himself?”

“Don't believe her! She is lying!” Lysithea yelled out as Sankou stared at her.

Kymira tossed her head back and let out a laugh as Lysithea continued to panic.

“Still the little whore I see.” Kymira smirked out as her free hand hovered over her spell book in preparation of the spells.

Lysithea's forehead creased in concentration as aether gathered around her hands. In a venomous voice, she cried out in a commanding voice, "Smite!" Power flew from her finger tips, errupting against Kymira's stoneskin causing Lysithea to pause as she watched Kymira staring at her though the cloud of gray dust.

"Silly Lysithea, even as an Asmodian you have no chance against me." Kymira said in a commanding tone as the dust finally settled at her feet.

“Shadowburst!” Kymira yelled out as shadows danced gleefully along her arms to shoot out at Lysithea causing her to fall to the ground and her black wings surrounding her prone form.

She arched her eyebrow as she looked at Sankou. Her head tilted to the side as she studied him closely as he held up a rez stone to summon Lysithea's soul back to her body.

“You'll actually...raise her with me still standing here?” She laughed out as her eyes flashed with laughter.

“Wow, you don't know me that well...” She continued as she watched Lysithea groan and fall into Sankou's arms.

“You wouldn't dare...” Sankou growled out angrily as his black eyes flashed red.

“Oh?” She continued as she raised her hands, as the aetheric power gathered into the book she held in her hand.

Sankou grabbed his great sword and took a step towards Kymira. His eyes flashing red as he took another menacing step towards her.

She smiled and dropped her hands behind her back and watched as he advanced towards her.

“Oh so you'll actually hurt me because I almost killed your lover? How noble.” She sneered out as she stood her ground.

He continued to advance as he reached out a clawed hand to wrap gently around her throat.

“I could easily kill you...” He whispered coldly as Kymira continued to smirk up at him.

“Do it Sankou.” Lysithea called out as she she stood up after fully recovering from Kymira's attack her red eyes glazed over in rage.

She contiued to stare at him blankly as the smile played along her lips.

“Ausa...Tox? Feel free to drop stealth and say hi.” She said softly as she continued to stare up at Sankou.

Tox stood a few steps behind Lysithea, a dagger to her throat while Ausa stood a few steps away a arrow pointing directly at Sankou's exposed neck.

Sankuo swallowed hard as he reflexively tightened his hold on Kymira's neck.

“Call the Assassin off her.” He growled out as he stared down hard at Kymira his eyes flashing bright red.

Tox looked at Kymira and shook his head, lightly tracing the point of the dagger against Lysithea's exposed neck. His moss green eyes glittered with shards of ice as he stared hard at Sankou's hand.

Canens stepped carefully out from behind Kymira, her staff going straight for Sankou's neck as she held it tightly against the pulse pounding in his neck.

“I strongly suggest you let her go before you decide to give orders.” Canens retorted coldly as her blue eyes flashed with anger.

Sankou swallowed hard and loosened his hold on Kymira's neck and taking a careful step back.

Kymira reached a hand around her neck feeling for the start of bruises. She looked at Tox and shook her head holding up her hand to stop him from slicing Lysithea's neck open.

“That's enough. They're not worth it. Let us just continue on to our destination.” She spoke softly her voice calm as ice as she lowered her spell book to the side of her dress.

Sankou carefully walked towards Tox and Lysithea. His clawed hands tightly gripping the hilt of his sword.

“If he makes a move for Tox, shoot him with an arrow Ausa.” Canens said softly as she lowered her staff to her side and watched Kymira closely.

“He wouldn't. She'll be good as dead if he takes a swing at him.” Kymira said softly as watched Sankou walk away from her, her hands clenched tightly at her sides.

He turned, as he carefully extracted Lysithea from Tox's hold. His eyes seeking Kymira's out as sadness covered his features.

“I never meant to hurt you Cor meum....” He said softly.

“But you did...” She finished as she popped her wings out and took off into the air.
